Unconstrained by default
You can create any relationship from a topic, without being constrained by following an ontology. You can create new topics on the fly while creating a new relationship.
A constrained mode is available in the settings. If you select that option, you would only be able to connect to another topic using the set of existing relationship types. And you will only be able to connect to another topic if it already exists.
Metadata is Data
Any metadata applied to a data point is considered another data point connected, through a relationship that expresses the value of the property.
It then becomes possible to refactor data originated from various sources, where metadata attributes may differ.
Relationships are nodes
A relationship automatically creates a node in the graph to represent itself. It becomes therefore possible to document the relationship, express its provenance. Relationship nodes can be nested at any level.
Structuring by refactoring
While most integrated solutions rely on harmonizing data structures prior to importing, the Networker platform allows you to restructure your data set at any point by refactoring either local subgraphs, or the whole graph.
This approach creates a new workflow in which you can decide –after information gets integrated– how the structure looks like. It is a solution that offers not only the advantage of increased flexibility, but also protects from obsolescence, as it enables you to integrate new information that may have a different structure.
